Inspired by the swallows that return to my garden each year, Swallows Fly captures the freedom and movement of these beautiful summer visitors as they sweep and dart through the sky.
The porcelain artwork is built up in layers of hand-applied colour, pattern and botanical detail. Deep blue swallows move across a softly textured surface of blues and delicate pinks, with touches of warm orange bringing light and energy to the composition. Subtle 24 karat gold lustre details catch the light and add another dimension to the porcelain surface.
Each piece is individually made, decorated and fired in my Dublin studio, creating a one-of-a-kind original porcelain artwork. The finished piece is signed and presented in a simple white frame, allowing the intricate surface and rich colour of the porcelain to take centre stage.
A joyful piece celebrating summer, the garden and the wonderful sight of swallows returning each year.
