Inspired by the swallows that return to my garden each year, Flight of the Swallows captures the movement and energy of these beautiful summer visitors as they sweep across the garden.
The porcelain artwork is built up in layers of hand-applied colour, pattern and botanical detail, with deep blue swallows moving across softer blues, greens and touches of warm orange. Small details of 24 karat gold lustre catch the light, adding another dimension to the surface.
Each porcelain piece is individually made and fired in my Dublin studio, making this a one-of-a-kind original artwork. The finished porcelain is presented in a simple white frame, allowing the colours and intricate surface detail to take centre stage.
A joyful piece inspired by summer, the garden and the fleeting return of the swallows each year.
