This unique dish is inspired by the swallows that come to nest beside my studio every year and to pay homage to their resilience and journey they take.
This small dish is handmade from fine porcelain clay and then the inside is hand painted with underglazes in various blues. After the glaze firing a final touch of gold lustre (22 karat) is applied highlighting details of the two swallows in flight and the edge of the dish, then finally the dish is fired again in the kiln.
This blue and white dish can be hung on the wall and makes a beautiful decorative piece or it used can be used as severing plate for nibbles and as a keepsake/jewellery dish.
This porcelain blue plate would make a lovely gift for a any special occasion.
